Project Brief
Using any medium, 2D or 3D, design a box of hope… This warm-up project from my fourth year of school is one of my favorites.
Taking flight is a companion to the build your own flight six- packs you can often find in grocery stores. With things opening up after the pandemic and socialization to resume, plus turning 21 while under lock down, the idea of being able to share a beer with friends or sample local brews was a large beacon of hope for me. I was very excited to go on a hike with friends and share some beers at the summit.

When designing the box I was inspired by the Blue Ridge mountains surrounding Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. Both a six and four pack design were considered but I chose to do the six pack as that was more common to see in grocery stores.
With Taking Flight a flight can be enjoyed anywhere from a friends apartment kitchen to the summit of your favorite hike. with the integrated bottle storage while the bottle is open you don’t need to worry about anything falling over or spilling, its like a mini table wherever you go!
Taking flight was inspired from tasting beers with my father during lockdown, a wonderful bonding experience for the two of us and something that made the prospect of entertaining friends back at school all the more enticing.
